National Bank of Greece was hailed “Shipping Financier of the Year” at the 18th Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards on Friday, 3 December 2021. This is the third time that NBG has been awarded the prize, more times than any other Greek bank.
This is the headline award ceremony for top players in the sphere of financing for Greek shipping, and has been held on an annual basis since 2004 in the presence of key shipping personalities, companies and organizations. National Bank of Greece was hailed as top financier of the year.
On the occasion of the award, Mr George Koutsoudakis, General Manager of Corporate SMEs and Shipping, stated:
"This achievement continues the legacy of NBG and provides tangible evidence of the bank’s commitment to Greek shipping. The long-running success of NBG reflects its strong customer focus and the fact, in this highly cyclical sector, that our clients know they can depend on NBG not only in the good times, but also in the bad times. We offer a ship for all seas."
Mr Theofanis Moustakatos, Head of the Shipping Finance Division, stated:
For nigh on half a century, NBG has been a significant and stable force in the financing of Greek-owned shipping. In 2021, with total financing amounting to USD 1 billion, we further expanded our footprint. Consistently standing by our customers, we aspire to maintain our frontline role in the financing of Greek-owned shipping, as the sector takes on board new technological and environmental challenges.”
